  23. Kermit-CMS doesn't have a CONNECT mode.  Since terminals on IBM mainframes
  24. (like other I/O devices there) talk in block mode, you simply cannot have a
  25. transparent session passing through to a remote character-mode host.  Not
  26. only that, but the terminal connection is inherently half-duplex, so that
  27. even a partial implementation requiring the user to press an attention key
  28. after every ordinary keystroke would still fail to simulate a transparent
  29. session.  You can run Kermit-CMS in local mode, but only by dialing into
  30. an alternate virtual terminal device.
